Julie Carafelli, MPH

Assistant Director, ExecHPM Programs

Julie Carafelli is Assistant Director of the Executive Programs in Health Policy and Management, in UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health.

Julie obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University and moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter. She joined UCLA’s Executive Master in Public Health (EMPH) Program in 2005 as an Administrative Assistant under the leadership of Founding Director, Dr. Paul Torrens. After spending nearly 10 years in administration with the UCLA Math Department’s Curtis Center, she returned to the Fielding School in 2016 as a Program Manager in the Executive Programs in HPM Office, where she worked to develop non-degree programs and was a key player in the development of UCLA’s online MHA Program, the first in the entire UC system. After years of being inspired by all involved with the EMPH, she herself joined the program and went on to earn her MPH while working full-time during the pandemic. Shortly after graduating in 2021, Julie took on the role of Assistant Director of the Executive Programs, where she is responsible for operations. Her student perspective has also made a positive impact on both the EMPH and MHA Programs.

Julie is a dedicated team member of the Executive Programs and is committed to building a broadly diverse and inclusive community of highly-skilled future healthcare leaders.
